Our NURSING DEPARTMENT consists of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical
Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, a Certified Rehab. Nurse, Restorative Therapy Aides, Ward
Secretary, and a Director of Nursing. Together they provide 24-hour nursing
care to our residents. The staff is specifically oriented to geriatric
care by virtue of education, experience, and interest. The nursing staff
assumes multi-disciplinary roles, especially in the long-term care setting.
We focus not only on "tasks" but on the entire
person's needs in body, mind, and spirit. Nursing staff attends continuing
education seminars and hold regular in-service sessions to expand their
knowledge and skills. The MDS is completed upon admission and quarterly
thereafter, unless a significant change or hospitalization occurs.
URC Avera has an established certified nursing aide training program,
a quality assurance committee, and a resident interdisciplinary care team.
We have contracted with licensed consultants for physical, occupational,
and speech therapy, pharmacist, dietitian, medical director, and a financial
firm to assure that Federal and State regulations are adhered and that
the residents receive the care that allows them to function at their optimal
level.
The URC Avera therapy department offers a wide variety of therapy options to meet the individual needs of residents. The therapy team consists of the physician, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, nursing staff and trained restorative aides. Therapy is available five days per week and may include retraining in many areas such as self cares, home skills, and physical mobility skills. Whether the need is short term therapy after a joint replacement or fracture, longer term therapy after a stroke or long term maintenance care, we will design a program to fit your specific needs.
