Chris Florey
RN - Staff Development

Hi, my name is Chris Florey and I have been a Registered Nurse since 1986. I have been the trainer for Nursing Assistants to become certified for the past 16 years. I have been the Director of Education at URC since January 2002.

My job duties include training Nursing Assistants through the 75 hour course required to become certified. We are able to complete all of the training from the very beginning to the final written and skills test here at URC. Certified Nursing Assistants are required to have twelve hours of education a year. Besides offering the required education to all URC employees such as Resident’s Rights, Confidentiality, Emergency Preparedness, and Infection Control, the Certified Nursing Assistants receive educational material at monthly meetings also.

I also train Certified Nursing Assistants for the Unlicensed Assistive Personnel training course (UAP) on how to assist the nurses by administering medications.

My other duties include, but are not limited too, orientation to the Nursing Department for nursing employees and the Nursing Department scheduling. I enjoy my job because of the constant variety of duties. There will always be changes in healthcare so the education possibilities are endless.
